Description
On 9 May 1875 Botev wrote in the newspaper. „Two famous and important works have appeared in Russian literature under the title. Melek Khanum was the wife of the one-time Grand Vizier Kubrazli Mehmed Pasha and played a very important role in Turkish diplomatic and political circles, and her son, Osman Bey, Frederick, as an officer in the Turkish general staff, had occasion to study the Turks and their life masterfully. We have already begun the translation of these two books, and we shall soon publish Osman Bey's work, and if it is so favourably received by our reading public as to meet the expense of the bar, we shall publish his mother's work also.“
