Description

On the surface, everything in Lydia Fitzsimmons' life seems perfect - she is the wife of a respected judge, the mother of a beloved son, the owner of a beautiful estate in Dublin. But this beautiful house has its own disturbing secrets. The family is forced to hide something unthinkable for people of their social standing - the murder of a young woman.

For Lydia, however, this is not an insurmountable problem. She would never liken herself to a victim and will do everything in her power to protect her family from the inevitable turmoil. Most of all, she'll make sure her son, Lawrence, doesn't understand anything.

Luckily for Lydia, the victim is a typical troubled girl, so the police decide that she has escaped. But her sister Karen refuses to accept this claim and is obsessed with the idea of finding her. The secret linking the two families at either end of the social ladder threatens to surface as things spiral out of control and everything escalates to a breathtaking climax.

According to Sunday Mirror, Liz Newgate's novel is a must for fans of Ruth Ware and Gillian Flynn and is „an irresistibly creepy story, brilliant and creepy.“ The haunting plot is filled with surprising twists that generate constant suspense. Exceptional, relentless and utterly gripping, Room for Evil shocks and captivates not with bloodshed and murder, but with the tragic ability of ordinary people, on the brink of despair, to do horrific things, straying far from the ordinary.

Nugent has a knack for delving into the darkest corners of human nature and bringing to the surface the black spots hidden within each of us. None of her characters are perfect, but that doesn't mean you won't sympathize with them and care about their plight. „She writes mesmerizingly and creates first-rate portrayals of sociopaths like no one else, and she doesn't shy away from serving up a truly shocking finale. „Room for Evil is a story not to be missed,“ advises renowned radio host Rick O'Shea.
