The office is a place where, supposedly, adults work. Everyone has responsibilities, and everyone behaves politely. But behind this facade of civility, the office sometimes turns out to be not much different from high school. Dawn Schiff and Natalie Farrell know this all too well. The two work together at a dietary supplement company Vixed, but it seems as though they couldn't be more different from one another.

Everyone thinks Dawn Schiff is strange. It’s as if she can never say the right thing. She has no friends and doesn’t date anyone. She was the target of ridicule and bullying in high school, and she continues to be—despite her impeccable work as an accountant.

Natalie Farrell was the prom queen, and now she is the most successful and most popular employee at Vixed. And just like in school, she can't resist the temptation to throw a sarcastic remark at the outsider, who seems to be desperately trying to become her friend.

But when Dawn disappears one morning, Natalie begins to worry. Especially after the strange anonymous phone call she receives. And when she decides to visit Dawn at her home to check on her, what she discovers there turns her whole life upside down.
